2011 South Australian John Laing Awards

The South Australian Branch of Principals Australia celebrated the 2011 John Laing Professional Development Awards on Monday October 17 at the Education Development Centre, Hindmarsh. Five school leaders, nominated by their peers, were recognised for their: commitment to professional learning; leadership of professional learning; professionalism; and their capacity to inspire leadership actions in others.
Award recipients for 2011 are:
Ms Katrina Spencer, SA Primary Principals Association
Mr Ray Marino, SA Area School Leaders Association
Ms Marie Dorrington, Association of Principals of Catholic Secondary Schools
Dr Keren Wicks, SA Special Schools Principals Association
Mr Jim Davies, SA Secondary Principals Association.

The awards were presented by Mr Keith Bartley, Chief Executive for the Department for Education and Children's Services, on behalf of the Minister for Education, Mr Jay Weatherill. On the evening, the Hon. Ms Susan Lenehan, also highlighted key directions of Principals Australia and priorities in her role as the Board Chair of Principals Australia.

Other invited guests included, Mr Phil Lewis, President, SA Principals of Catholic Sec Schools, Mr Jim Davies, President, SA Sec Principals Association, Mr Pat Maloney, President, SA Area School Leaders Association, Mr Steve Portlock, President SA Primary Principals Association, Ms Jen Mathwin-Raymond, President SA Special Schools Principals Association, family members and guests of John Laing Award recipients, Executive staff and Project leaders from Principals Australia, and members of the SA Branch of Principals Australia.

Principals Australia and the Principals Associations of South Australia demonstrate through the John Laing Awards their ongoing commitment to high quality professional development in education.
