MindMatters State/Territory News Northern Territory Stacey's baby news Arlo Stanley Holford Beattie was born on 21st April, just a few hours after Stacey Beattie clocked off her last day of work as Alice Springs project officer! Congratulations Stacey.
New NT Project Officer -Central Australia A big hearty welcome to Faith Gray! Faith will based at the Alice Springs Student Services Division working all day Mon and Tue and Wed mornings. Faith has an eclectic work history in Children's services, Drug and Alcohol services, Smith Family and the Office of the Chief Minister to name a few.
NT Teacher Registration Board All MindMatters workshops have been approved by the NT TRB as constituting hours for TRB requirements. This is now advertised on all promotional materials. There will also be ongoing discussions about accessing the developing DET online PD system to advertise the MindMatters Professional Development Calendar.
YEP - We Own It! Launch at Taminmin College A fabulousday organized by Erin Evans, HPSN, with the whole school in attendance. Other agencies involved included: Headspace, Top End Mental Health Service,TeamHealth, Danila Dilba and NT Young Carers. The day started with an official launch of MM YEP which saw the Year 7's burst enthusiastically through a YEP banner at the end of a speech by the MM NT PO. The day was then split into 5 sessions which were run by the Year 11 Health class. Each group had a mental health session planned for the younger students and was supported by a local mental health/youth agency. Topics included peer pressure, understanding mental illness, mental health agencies and stress management. The students did a fabulous job and were really proud of their achievements 
MindMatters Recognition Process After the success of Taminmin Collegein 2010 being recognised as MindMatters school, MindMatters is hoping to see more Northern Territory schools recognised in 2011. Student Services Staff Health and Wellbeing Strategy The MindMatters Staff Matters resource and professional development has been identified as a key component of the NT Student Services Division strategy to improve the mental health and wellbeing amongst workers. This will involve targeted MindMatters professional development amongst key work groups throughout the Territory.

MindMatters Level One Introductory Workshop Level One Workshops provide an introduction to the MindMatters resource kit and the concept of a whole school approach to mental health and wellbeing. MindMatters Level Two Planning Workshop Level Two Planning Workshops are directed at school core teams with experience of MindMatters. The core team develops a school action plan with a view to measuring progress in mental health and wellbeing. These workshops are available to school community core teams of four or more people - including a member of executive leadership. Preferably some of the team have attended Level One, the school is familiar with MindMatters and uses the resource. Workshop topics include: leadership, student diversity, staff mental health and wellbeing, protective and risk factors, curriculum mapping, staff professional development, and communication.
Leadership (1 day) - for school leaders andaspiring leaders Consider your leadership of mental healthpromotion, prevention and early intervention within the school through both apersonal and a systems approach.
Staff Matters (2 days) - for all school staff A two-day module about supporting staff wellbeing within schools using social and emotional learning and engaging staff in mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention for students.
Student Empowerment (1 day) - for staff and students An overview about maximising the role of studentsin leading a whole school approach to mental health and wellbeing (this also connectswith a series of student-led youth empowerment sessions).
Communities do Matter (1 day) - as a part of a series ofseminars/workshops An overview of the positive connections schools can make with culture and community using the MindMatters community partnership process. Follow-up workshops and seminars are available for community members.
Students Experiencing High Support Needs in Mental Health (2 days) - for school counsellors, school support staff and health workers A two-day session recognising the pivotal role of school support staff in leading, managing and working with others for school wide mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention for students with high support needs and howthis can be supported.
The Whole Student Approach (1day) - forall school staff including year/house leaders The module develops our understanding of how schools can work with students as individuals and provide successful experiences by recognising the richness they bring with them to a school setting.
Teaching and Learning for Engagement (1or 2 days) - for all school staff A one or two-day module reflecting on the needs of young people, the importance and nature of the pedagogies that engage them and the educational and mental health connections.
Measuring ourProgress (1 day) - for school staff managing data The session aims to expand our understanding of how to collect and analyse school mental health and wellbeing data to measure the effectiveness of a whole school approach.
