| MindMatters State News Victoria Communities do Matter
& Dare To Lead Conference
As winter wraps itself around Victorians - MindMatters has
been out and about connecting with schools and communities all over the
state. To avoid the cold we are going to
Mildura (24 August) and Horsham (26 July) to run "Communities do Matter". This PD is about linking
with your local community. This PD will be run extensively
by Aaron Ken the MindMatters indigenous Community Partnerships Officer. If you are particularly interested in
indigenous education Dare To Lead (Another Principals Australia Program) will be
holding a conference on the 31 August on
Indigenous Education and Engagement at the Sebel Hotel in Albert park. Link is below

School Holiday PD
Over the school holidays MindMatters has continued to run
PD for teachers and the community. We understand
that for many staff the winter months
are times when many staff are sick or absent and being released to do PD can be
very difficult. If you are keen to come
to our PD but cannot get released you may want to consider coming to PD in the
holidays.
MindMatters works with with pre service teachers
MindMatters staff are continuing to work with teachers at all
stages of their development, including pre service teachers.
Victoria University
3rd year Physical Education and Health students took part in a
practical and informative Teaching & Learning for Engagement workshop
presented by MindMatters Victorian Project Officer Brendan Hallinan. The two
separate workshops delivered at the St.Albans and Footscray Park campuses were
well attended, with pre-service teachers discussing a number of themes relating
to MindMatters.
MindMatters
Victoria was a noted addition to the list of guest presenters at Deakin
University's Education Conference 2011 held in Burwood. Victorian Project
Officer Brendan Hallinan was delighted with a large turnout of pre service
teachers for the MindMatters Teaching & Learning for Engagement workshop.
In July Vivienne Archdall will be working with La Trobe
University students at the Bendigo campus.
