Leading 21st Century Schools: Engage with Asia Project

Applications for Round 3 of this program will commence in October 2010.

The Leading 21st Century Schools: Engage with Asia project was conducted by Principals Australia and the Asia Education Foundation in every state and territory during 2009 and 2010.

To date, 366 principals and school leaders have participated in this Asia literacy leadership program since its inception.

The project model

The project is based on a "sandwich" model of :

  • A full day, face to face training session in each state and territory
  • Leaders returning to their schools to put their action plans in place to embed Asia Literacy across their curriculum. They connect with their colleagues in the project on line to support their work.
  • A final half -day sharing meeting in June to share the results of their work in school.

The training day consists of:

  1. Principals from the 2008/9 project, guest speakers and experienced Asia Education resource people to present up to date learning about Asia literacy, culture and quality practice in schools.

  2. Free resource kits to form the basis of practical resources at school (book, texts, DVD's etc)

  3. The opportunity to meet and share quality practice and learnings with colleagues (ie lots of discussion, question and self directed learning time).

  4. An online e learning tool that will allow participants to be supported during the work back in school after the training and to stay connected with colleagues in the project.

  5. Action planning time and support  for leaders to develop a practical and achievable program of change and development in your school's Asian literacy outcomes.

The Leading 21st Century Schools project is endorsed by the four peak Principals Associations and supported by the Principals Australia Branches in each state and territory. The Asia Education Foundation is a long term partner of Principals Australia.
